Weekend Update 11/21/25
The Most Pure Temple
That’s a quotation from the hymns for the Feast of the Entrance of the Mother of God.
We offered the services for that feast last night and this morning, and it was a nice break. Because, here in Orthodox Land, we just wrapped up the first full week of the Nativity Fast. That means our backs and our knees are a little sore from all the prostrations; that means we’re all jonesing for cheeseburger.
So, it was really good to pray with the Woman Who Is Always Praying For Us.
But, in addition to the fast and the feast, we also had a lot of other things going on this week.
Move Over, Indy
That’s right, we’ve got a new favorite archeologist.
His name is Andrew Richardson .
He’s from Folkestone in the UK, and, if you’ve been following Come See Something Beautiful for any time at all, you know Andrew was with us this past weekend to talk about St Eanswythe, the Patroness of our Building Program and Our Favorite Anglo-Saxon Princess.
We will be making videos available of Dr. Richardson’s talks very soon and you’ll want to check it out.
And if that just whets your appetite for Kentish Kings and Carolingian Connections, stay tuned: we’ve got an even more enjoyable talk that we’ll share in the weeks ahead.
But in addition to really, really knowing his stuff, Andrew is also just a whole lot of fun—and he’s now an Honorary Texan: not only has he downed a burger and a shake at Mighty Fine, he also visited the State Capitol.
So, we’re just going to have to go Full McCartney as we close out this Weekend Update.
But, as you’re listening to Paul and Linda and Wings, you really ought to think long and hard about it: Don’t you deep down want to support a parish that has a relationship, not only with a seventh century saint, but also with the twenty-first century archeologist from her hometown who authenticated her relics?
Of course you do.
Sign up for the Substack. Make that donation to the Temple Fund.
And Happy Feast!
